Schmausbuch Nummer 2: The Stories Part 4

Fupsbudel
Post-Versal 1935 and Post-Antiqua 1939
Herbert Post (1903-1978) designed both varieties in the 1930s. The duo was quite successful and widely used for both wedding announcements and obituaries. The card printed to announce my birth was set from Post-Versal.
Fupsbudel (which is low German for bag or satchel) is a recipe developed with a big smile towards the traditional Swabian Maultasche, It is pasta dough with a filling, sealed closed and then cooked. Traditionally Maultaschen will have a filling with minced beef and spinach. Fupsbudel are filled with kale and either minced beef or, in their vegetarian version, lentils.
Ketchup
Forum I (1949) and II (1952); Schadow-Antiqua (1938)
All fonts used for this folio are designed by Georg Trump (1896-1985) and are of a similar style. Trump, together with Imre Reiner and Walter Brudi had been a student of Ernst Schneidler. He was teaching later together with Paul Renner (father of Futura) and Jan Tschichold. In the early 1930s he worked at Berthold foundry, and in 1937 started working for Weber foundry in Stuttgart. Schadow and Forum used to be on stock in many printing offices, particularly in southern Germany.
According to the colour ketchup made from beetroot will have, this recipe is printed on scarlet red paper.
Chutney
TimeScript (1956), Jaguar (1964); Goethe-Antiqua and Schiller-Fraktur
Time Script and Jaguar are scriptlike fonts designed by Georg Trump (1896-1985) und the metal type in my cabinets show no signs of hard work. Contrary to that Goethe-Antiqua and Schiller-Fraktur were in a rather run-down state when arriving at my place like old pals, being stuck together in what might be the oldest cabinet in my studio. According to a freight sticker it had been shipped by train to the printing office in 1928, where it stayed put until I picked it up in 2010.
