Hot off the press: Schmausbuch Nummer 2
Schmaubuch Nummer 2 was designed and printed on the occasion of the studio‘s silver jubilee. The book is a collection of recipes and a samplebook of fonts. All text is handset from metal and wood type. The sheets are printed on a manual proofpress. As with the first Schmausbuch, published in 2002, the paper used is Zerkall Ingres deckled edge paper.
The book comes with 52 pages and is a limited edition of 25 numbered and signed copies, entirely handmade. The special edition being copies 1 to 5, bound in old linen made in the region of Lübbecke. The standard edition being copies 6 to 25, bound in fabric, each copy being a one-off.
Schmausbuch Nummer 2 ist part of the series „Giving Diversity a Home!“ It wants to encourage to revive the ancient bond between garden and kitchen. The recipes use fruit and vegetables that can easily be homegrown. Some of them will at times produce bumper crops. Additionally to the recipes the benefit for species diversity is described for the fruit and vegetables used.
The book is on show at 9. Biennale Buchkunst Weimar on 7 and 8 December 2024. The fair is open on the Saturday from 10am to 6pm and on the Sunday from 10am to 5pm and is held in congress centrum weimarhalle, right in the city centre of Weimar.
The studio The Fork and Broom Press in Oppenwehe will open on Saturday 14 December 2024 from 1pm to 7pm, to mark the end of the jubilee year. The new book will be on show here, too, as will be all backlist artworks: artist‘s books and prints.
